Plagued with anaemia since young, Jasmine always had a love-hate relationship with exercising; while it was fun and exciting to play with friends, the aftermath was often fainting spells, anxiety and nausea. When treatments and medicines no longer helped, Jasmine turned to her nemesis – physical training. And guess what? After 2 years of arduous gymnastic training at the age of 19, the symptoms from anaemia reduced to almost none. To Jasmine, movement saved her life and gave her the confidence to make the impossible possible.

But anaemia wasn’t her only challenge. Jasmine also lived with scoliosis – a condition that shaped not only her spine, but her relationship with her body. The unevenness, the aches, the sense that her own posture was betraying her could have been reason enough to give up. Instead, it made her even more determined to learn how to move with intelligence rather than fear. Scoliosis taught her firsthand the importance of alignment, muscular balance and core strength — not just for aesthetics, but for survival, comfort, and long-term health.

Striving to live a purposeful life by helping others to reach goals that may seem impossible, Jasmine switched careers to become a Pilates Teacher in 2015 and has never looked back.

During her past 10 years of learning and teaching Pilates, Jasmine admires Pilates as a wonderful foundation for everyone. When applying Pilates to her high-performance sports (Gymnastics and Beach Volleyball), she sees the importance of attaining strong bodily awareness to gain muscular and joint control and stability. This not only enhanced her sports performance — allowing her to pick up skills faster — but also kept her safe from injuries, even with scoliosis in the mix.

However, Jasmine believes one should not stop at Pilates. Like how she has applied her knowledge and foundation from Pilates to high-performance sports, Jasmine’s ultimate wish is for her students to also step out of Pilates and explore different sports/activities with the strong foundation they have built.

And therefore, it is not surprising to see agility jumps, sprints and Gymnastics moves in Jasmine’s lessons as she believes foundation and knowledge are wasted if not applied to daily activities or sports.

“Knowledge is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.” – Bruce Lee

Interestingly, Jasmine’s long battles with anaemia and scoliosis have made her a favourite among her students recovering from injuries. Her personal journey allows her to meet them where they are — with empathy, patience, and an understanding that progress often feels like two steps forward and one step sideways. This ordeal has not only given her resilience but also compassion, helping her create a training framework that focuses on alignment, stability, mobility, and control (the very elements often neglected in injured bodies). At the same time, she pushes her students timely and adequately to ensure fast and long-lasting recovery.

For Jasmine, movement is not just about strength or skill. It is about reclaiming the body from the conditions that try to limit it, and proving, again and again, that the impossible is only temporary.

I used to struggle with lower back pain, knee pain, and constant neck and shoulder soreness. My posture was previously slanted, but thanks to her classes, it has improved so much. Jasmine has introduced me to resistance and weights training, which has made a huge difference—I feel so much stronger and more flexible than before. For women over 40 like me, I can’t recommend Pilates and strength training enough. As our bodies change with age, especially with bone density and hormones, we’re more prone to aches and pains. Jasmine’s guidance has truly helped me manage all that!

I have trained with Jasmine for 2 years now. I can see significant improvements since day 1. With her patience and structured training. I was able to overcome fear of jumping, and have less neck pain during jogs, and even able to hang on a bar after recovering from frozen shoulders! I have also referred friends who benefited greatly from jasmine’s training as well!

I have trained with many personal trainers in the past but none has matched up to Jasmine. She is knowledgeable, dedicated and a true professional. She customises programmes to suit my condition and has a deep understanding of my requirements. Always cheerful and encouraging, her sessions are well-planned, progressive and enjoyable. She combines different techniques and is striving to make me stronger, more flexible and physically confident. Excellent at gauging my limits and an eye for detail, she always knows how hard to push. I can now jog again, squat, and do a dead hang, amongst others! As a senior with osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, I am thrilled to bits with this improvement. Next up, boxing….! Thank you, Jasmine. You are a gem!

Jasmine from The Beacon Movement has helped me so much that my Plantar Fasciitis (>20 years) is NO LONGER giving me any issues (after just a few mths)! No pain, just gain from training with her! She's able to explain clearly why we do the exercises (I used to play sports, so it's important for me to know), and I love being on the Reformer & other machines! Mat work is also beneficial & helps me in strength and conditioning! Been training w Jasmine for more than a year now, not stopping anytime soon! 😊 #satisfiedclient

Jasmine has looked after my fitness and well-being for over 2 years. Initially focusing on Pilates to achieve a greater level of Strength and flexibility, our sessions have become far more holistic covering stretching, cardiovascular, strengthening and my absolute favourite, boxing! Being a gentleman of a certain age, Jasmine has been exceptional in finding “work arounds” to my physical challenges, such as sore joints from arthritis, as and when required. Our sessions are always productive and most importantly fun! I can strongly recommend Jasmine as a thoughtful and innovative trainer. She’s certainly got me back on track!

I’ve been training with Jasmine since last year and I must say I have experienced a visible improvement to my overall strength and flexibility. Even my friends have noticed a positive change in my overall physical and mental well-being and I have since recommended a few other friends to train with her. No one has had any regrets so far! That must say a lot. 🙂 On top of her wicked sense of humour which makes her lessons fun, interactive and warm, Jasmine also has an acute understanding of especially scoliosis conditions and works to help these students live well with the associated pains and physical imbalances. In all, I am glad I found Jasmine.
