With a background as a professional Muay Thai athlete, Jay understands the demands of high-performance training and the importance of movement efficiency. Beyond combat sports, he has trained extensively in gymnastics, parkour, and bodyweight movement, giving him a well-rounded understanding of movement mechanics. This diverse foundation allows him to analyze movement patterns across disciplines and apply practical, progressive training methods to help his students move better, perform stronger, and recover smarter.

Specializing in Rehabilitation and Performance, Jay has worked with numerous athletes dealing with shoulder and knee pain, helping them regain strength, mobility, and confidence to return to their sport. His approach goes beyond conventional rehab—he integrates movement-based recovery strategies, ensuring that every drill serves a functional purpose rather than just ticking off exercises.

More than just focusing on the physical aspects of movement, Jay deeply values the mental side of training. He believes that confidence, like strength or flexibility, can be developed progressively and plays a crucial role in overcoming limitations. By tailoring his coaching to the needs of each individual, he ensures that students train at the right pace for sustainable progress while fostering independence in their learning.

Never one to settle, Jay continuously expands his knowledge by exploring disciplines that complement his expertise. While his specialty lies in gymnastics and bodyweight movement, his cross-disciplinary approach allows him to bridge rehabilitation with performance, helping his students move pain-free, build resilience, and perform at their best.

I have been training with Jay since 2015. I had very poor body awareness, mobility and flexibility and was prone to injuries, so much so that my orthopaedic surgeon commented that I was starting a collection. Under Jay’s patient coaching (and I’m a very slow learner), I’m amazed at how far I’ve progressed, looking back at what I couldn’t do 5 years ago to what I could achieve today, which I never thought was possible. Jay patiently taught me how to listen to my body while safely executing exercises within my abilities, always mindful of my history of injuries. His quirky humour and creativity in figuring out ways to help me understand and execute a move safely ensures that there’s never a dull or slack-off moment during training. I give 5 stars”

I found out about Jay Ding from my sister and also positive results from another common friend and decided to go to him for my knee issues. The workouts he prescribed me really helped me with dealing with my knee cartilage wear and tear. There was this one session last October 2023, I went to him with pain in my weakened knee that I never had before while climbing up and down the stairs (overused the past few days). I came out of his hour-long session being able to hop off the stairs, pain-free. I dont think I have ever felt this hopeful about my knee rehabilitation in general if it was not for Jay. I trust his carefully tailored exercises that help me develop strength and confidence in my movements and be able to get back to playing sand sport properly again.

Have been working with Jay since 2016. He’s very patient and of course humorous in his own cheesy way. Even when I suffered a major injury on my shoulder and collar bone, Jay was very willing to break the exercise down to the most basic and safest to help work me back towards normalcy . A good teacher with a good knowledge of what he’s teaching , and ever willing to explore more in order to help his student excel further

Having played basketball for decades, I sought Jay out to work on strengthening my knees and overall agility so that I can continue to enjoy my sport. I’m very happy to say that after training 1:1 with Jay over the last 3-4 months, my knee pain is now very well-managed and I am playing my sport at least 3 times a week. I am even able to play competitively! I am so much more flexible as well. Thanks The Beacon Movement!

"My husband and I have been fortunate enough to train with Jay for almost two years. Jay is a master at fitness programming as he has trained us throughout many different circumstances (in-person, virtually, powerpoint) and environments (fitness studio, gymnastics gym, outdoor, home gym) with great attention to detail and without compromising quality. Jay focuses on the precision of movement and is very strategic how he layers the workout to ensure we meet our goals. We look forward to every training session and would highly recommend!"

Jay is an awesome instructor. He’s patient, and knows how to tweak the work outs according to your injuries/strength for the day. I started out with him having shoulder tendonitis which affected my ability to play my sport. After going to him for about 2 months, the pain reduced significantly and now I’m able to play my sport pain free. He shares work outs that I could do daily and also warm ups that will help prevent my old injury from flaring up. He would also throw in some lame jokes in the midst to keep you going 😂. I’ve just renewed my sessions with Beacon movement, and I’m very excited to continue my fitness journey with Jay. On top of her wicked sense of humour which makes her lessons fun, interactive and warm, Jasmine also has an acute understanding of especially scoliosis conditions and works to help these students live well with the associated pains and physical imbalances. In all, I am glad I found Jasmine.
