Scoliosis shouldn’t stop us from participating in intense sports that involve twisting and bending. Scoliosis doesn’t mean we should quit what we love. The Beacon Movement is 100% pro-movement. We acknowledge that some activities aren’t pro-scoliosis, but instead of denying them, we embrace them – because they make life worth living. Our founder, Jasmine Lee, who runs the Scoliosis Term Pack and Private Training and also has scoliosis, actively participates in gymnastics and beach volleyball.

In order to participate actively in gymnastics, swimming and volleyball without pain, Jasmine emphasises heavily in re-conditioning sessions designed for her curvature (yes, the exercises differ for different curves). In our Scoliosis classes, you will learn to bring your spine to neutral in all 3-dimensions through balance, weights and exercises. These exercises build core stability strength and retrain the brain and tissues (muscle, nerves, connective tissues) to work together in a more physiologically normal position, restoring alignment to your entire body.

I would like to end with a quote that I really like:

“First, you recognise the different needs and limits of your body. Second, you adapt to it.”

Learning Outcomes

  1. Reduced pain and aches resulting from collapsing into your curves
  2. Learn proper breathing techniques specially designed to mobilise the ribcage and thorax which improves the lung function at the concavity
  3. Learn how to de-rotate and center the spine to a neutral alignment
  4. Building strength to hold and lift the spine while maintaining it in a neutral alignment
  5. Create strategies and change lifestyle habits to prevent aggravation of scoliosis
After 3 months of training to improve my scoliosis, I feel less aches on my lower back, the feeling of "taller" and stronger after every session. Each session is tailored according to your spine curvature, and Jasmine knows every of your weak spot to work on😅 I love how every session gets tougher to challenge my mind and body! Coach Jasmine is an attentive, motivating and detail oriented person, and someone that I can trust my spine to! Wish I had discovered scoliosis training way earlier! Thanks Jasmine!
